IRA Newsletter Project: Effective Literacy Website #7

            Book Adventure (https://www.bookadventure.com) is a great interactive reading program where student effort is rewarded and celebrated. Since not all students learn at the same level, Book Adventure strives to be inclusive of the different learning styles and offers a variety of alternative assessment options for students who might not be great test takers. This site also provides positive reinforcement where educators can praise and reward positive behavior and challenge students to read more books. Book Adventure is continually updating the program to get your students more engaged and strive to ignite reading excitement.

            This site creates a gamified approach that focuses on sustained engagement. It features a best-in-class suite of logic, strategy, sports, and adventure games where the high scorer’s personal avatar is showcased ratcheting up the competitiveness and capturing the learner’s interest in a fun, familiar environment.

            Book Adventure is a kid and parent friendly internet tool that offers over 15,000 book quizzes, custom book lists (themed, grade specific), student avatars and personalized bookshelves, test-to-speech quizzes, reading activities, and so much more. I love how the site has interactive daily reading logs that keeps students’ engaged and at the same time give them the opportunity to track down their reading.

            Overall, I feel Book Adventure is a fun and interactive tool site that will draw kids for the love for reading. With the many animated avatars, reading games, and activities, students will enjoy this site.
