Scholastic
The Scholastic Website (http://www.scholastic.com/home/) is a website created to provide teachers, students, and parents the literacy resources that may help improve reading and writing. This website was found in 1920 as a single classroom magazine. Maurice Robinson created the first issues of the Western Pennsylvania Scholastic. He became the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books. His son, Dick Robinson, now Chairman, President, and CEO of Scholastic, leads an organization that has grown into a $1.6 billion global publishing and education company.
This website provides very effective and different activities for children at different ages. Some activities include the integration of other different subject areas that can also help enhance children’s understanding about the world. The Book Club enables teachers to order books to guide them manually. Teachers can also find lessons and ideas for any particular curriculum. Teachers can also find different activities to provide students in the classroom.
One good thing about this website is how its layout for parents is organized. Parents can find resourceful information as to how to teach literacy at home in preparing children or scaffolding them in the literacy world. Kids learn at school, but home is their primary environment of learning.
There are story books, videos, games, printable materials, blogs, and detail information to guide teachers, parents, students, and even any educational individual who is interested in improving children’s skills in reading and writing. This website is highly recommended for all it can offer. The website itself is very attractive in a way to attract children as it provides very effective resources.
