Website #2
This website (starfall.com) is a Parent-Teacher Center that has been teaching children to read with phonics.  Its system approach is perfect for preschool, kindergarten, first grade, special education, homeschool, and English language development. Starfall is an educational alternative to other entertainment choices for children. This website is more focused on teaching children to read with different activities that include games, reading stories, and the skill, content, or objective of each activity. Its goal is to reach out and help us feel supported and excited about our children’s early education.
Stepehn Schuts was the founder of starfall. He was struggled with reading in his childhood, and was motivated to create a resource to help children like himself. The starfall website opened on August 27, 2002 after two years of development. In 2012, starfall began providing its activities as apps for mobile devices. It is now a place where children can learn reading and mathematics through exploration.
The starfall curricula is consisted of kindergarten math, English Language Arts, and Pre-K. They are all available in the starfall store. The five components of starfall are supplement resources, curriculum materials, starfall news and events, parent and teacher supporting resources, and standards alignment.
The starfall parent-teacher center is available free for everyone and includes supplemental custom worksheets, curriculum downloads, informative guides, latest starfall news, and much more. There are many resources you can get from this site. The information dropdown offers detail information for parents, teachers, and homeschoolers.
When you click on each story book, each sentence is broken down into words and sentences so the child or student can learn the phonic skills of each word. There are options on the homepage: ABC’s Learn to Read, It’s Fun to Read, and I’m reading. There is also a link to where children can have fun with Art Gallery, Magic, Music, Poetry, Tongue Twisters, and Bird Riddles. Starfall is developed to make reading fun and interesting. It combines and integrates different activities to keep students or children in tack with the lesson they should learn.
