IRA Newsletter Project: Effective Literacy Website #1

Reading Rockets, launching young readers! (http://www.readingrockets.org) is a national multimedia literacy initiative which offers information and resources on how young kids learn to read, why so many struggle, and how we can assist them with their unique needs. Their goal is to bring the reading research to         life — to spread the word about reading instruction and to share "what works" so parents and educators can understand and utilize for enhanced learning.  Reading Rockets is known for its best research-based strategies to teachers, parents, administrators, librarians, childcare providers, and anyone else involved in helping a young child become a strong, confident reader.
Teaching reading is a complicated task…so much so, that reading expert Louisa Moats titled her influential article about the skills and knowledge educators need to teach reading well "Teaching Reading IS Rocket Science." That's how Reading Rockets got its name!
In 2016, the Reading Rockets project received the David M. Rubenstein Prize, the top honor in the Library of Congress Literacy Awards program.
Reading Rockets creates and disseminates free, evidence-based information about reading through our three major services: PBS television programs, online services, and professional development opportunities.
The website is use-friendly providing research, guides, videos, blogs, and resourceful information for parents, teachers and the rest all aimed at successful reading.  The fortune of information provided on this site makes it easier to follow enhancing learning. I strongly recommend the usage of this site for its robustness for a better tomorrow.
