Read Works (https://www.readworks.org/) is an online
reading comprehension instruction tool that provides strategies and common core
aligned lesson plans for teachers. It is a resource for reading passage and
lesson plans for K-12 teachers. Texts include pre-made worksheets, quizzes, and
other printable materials to enhance the lesson. ReadWorks is free for teachers
to use. Teachers can easily create an account and immediately begin to search
through ReadWorks’ texts. These texts include both fiction and non-fiction
passages. Texts are sortable by keywords, grade or readability levels, or by
the specific skill or strategy that a teacher would like his/ her students to
address. All passages are accompanied by related question sets. ReadWorks
also offers lesson plans aligned to Common Core standards. Each lesson is
accompanied by worksheets, graphic organizers and other materials to facilitate
student learning. ReadWorks organizes its lessons into groups that can be
taught sequentially over a series of grade levels or on a single novel. Teachers
can keep an online “binder” full of the materials they have used, and also
provide comments on individual materials. All materials are printable.
