Turtle Diary (https://www.turtlediary.com) is a fun, educational online website for kids between K4 to 5thgrade. The website provides users with interactive online games that can help children to enhance retention of material and increase success in the classroom. The website also offers a unique blend of education and entertainment with quizzes that may help children to become more confident in applying learned concepts, and allow instant evaluations.
The website’s homepage shows choices of buttons that will take you to the specific grade level appropriate games and quizzes that the user may use as an activity. When you scroll further down, it shows the different types of games they have in categories such as: addition games, verb games, adjective games, word games and assessment tests that can be aligned to the Common Core Standards. You are also able to explore quizzes that are categorized by subject. At the bottom of the page, it breaks down what can be done on the website and how it benefits each person that may use the website (teachers, parents, and students).
Turtle Diary is a great literacy tool because it can be used as an assessment tools to get detailed reports about student successes and areas for improvement. It offers extra practice that is easier to follow along in the classroom for the students. It also encourages online games and activities that correspond to classroom learning. The website is well designed and is easy to navigate through.
